Centrifuge Tube & Bottle FAQs

  • How to sterilize centrifuge bottles or tubes?

    Operating conditions: 121°C / 15 psig (1 bar), 20 minutes at a time.

PP/PPCO/PMP/FEP and ETFE products can be sterilized several times under normal conditions. PC and PSF containers can also be sterilized at high temperature and pressure under the same conditions, but their mechanical strength and service life will be reduced. If you sterilize PC or PSF products, be sure to follow the above inspection guidelines.

  • How to clean used centrifuge tubes or bottles?

Step 1: Soak in non-alkaline detergent
remove the tightly adhering residue pH neutral cleaning solutiona void corrosion by alkaline substancese specially polycarbonate (PC) products
    Step 2: Non-abrasive brush scrubbing
Remove residues using a rubber or fluoropolymer brush to avoid scratching or excessive wear of the centrifuge equipment.
Step 3: For the final rinse, use distilled water.
    Step 4: Wind drying
  • How should centrifugal instruments be handled after use?

    1. If it's a disposable centrifugal instrument, please discard it immediately
    2. If the centrifuge has been used with hazardous materials, please disinfect it before disposal
    3. If it's a reusable centrifuge, it needs to be carefully cleaned according to the steps provided
  • Carefully inspect the centrifuge tubes and centrifuge bottles before each use

At high speeds, the centrifuge experiences very strong centrifugal forces, which can cause the appliance to rupture. To ensure safe laboratory operation, all centrifuges should be inspected before each use.

    How to check?
Plastic centrifuges are easy to inspect and do not require special equipment. Before placing the tube at an angle to the light, observe initial signs of excessive stress on the plastic, such as darkening, discoloration, or visible "cracks" (visible slits). Over time, these cracks will widen and eventually render the tube unusable.
