For laboratory equipment distributors, importers and private-label brands, OEM centrifuge sourcing is rarely just about putting a different logo on an existing machine.
The real question is whether the finished centrifuge will fit your customers' applications, tubes or vessels, target-market requirements and long-term product strategy.
Most centrifuge OEM projects fall into one of three practical categories.
Suitable when you already have a centrifuge platform that fits the application and want to build your own product range around it.
Confirm destination country, voltage, frequency, language, product identification and project documentation requirements.
Best for projects where the sample, tube, required RCF, capacity or rotor requirement is more important than a catalogue model.
A custom project does not always require a completely new centrifuge. In many cases, the most practical route is to start with an existing platform that already satisfies most of the application requirements and customize only what is necessary.
Once the right starting platform is identified, the OEM discussion becomes much easier: what can remain standard, what needs to change and whether the existing rotor already fits the application.

A tube specification, product photo, existing centrifuge model or centrifugation protocol can already help narrow the correct direction.
For many OEM projects, the centrifuge itself is not the difficult part. The rotor is.
A machine may provide enough speed and power, but the application will still fail if the customer's actual tube, bottle or vessel cannot be used correctly with the available rotor.
Where a standard rotor already meets the application, the standard configuration is usually the simpler solution. Where it does not, the rotor requirement can be reviewed together with the centrifuge.
The rotor affects capacity, vessel compatibility, rotational radius, RCF and permitted operating speed, so it should be evaluated as part of the complete centrifuge system.
A good OEM project should not only work for the first order. For distributors and private-label brands, the real value is being able to reorder the same approved configuration later.

Not every distributor wants to begin with a large OEM order. A common approach is to start with one or several models, evaluate the products, collect market feedback and expand gradually.

The amount of work still depends on the project: a simple branding request and a new custom rotor are naturally different types of customization.
Changing product identification or packaging is different from changing a rotor, electrical configuration or operating performance.
The closer a customization is to how the centrifuge actually operates, the more important technical confirmation becomes.
The purpose is not to make OEM unnecessarily complicated. It is to make sure the customized product still performs the job your customer expects it to perform.
For distributors and private-label brands, delivery of the first machines is only the beginning.
Consider whether replacement and optional configurations can still be supplied later.
Long-term supply matters when your own customer needs service.
Application and troubleshooting questions should have a support route.
Previous customized configurations should remain identifiable.
Model, rotor and accessory information should remain consistent.
Order records make later purchasing and service discussions easier.
For EU markets in particular, selling a product under your own name or trademark can affect manufacturer responsibilities. This is worth clarifying before the final private-label configuration is approved.
If one of these situations sounds familiar, the most useful first message is usually not:
“What is your OEM price?”
A better message is: “Our customer uses this vessel, needs this RCF and capacity, and we plan to sell the product in this market.”
